REGISTRATION
In order to have the marriage legally registered in Thailand, the couple needs to ensure that the following has been properly taken care of:
1. Both parties need to provide ‘single status statements’ issued by their local registry office in their home country, or statement of divorce if that is the case.
2. Both parties need a statement of marital intend from their local registry office in their home country.
3. All documentation should be translated and fully approved by an official translator in Bangkok, prior to receiving a stamp of approval by the department of foreign affairs. This will take approximately 1-2 days.
4. Send the translated papers along with a photocopy of both passports to the hotel 3 days prior to the wedding and have the originals available upon your arrival.
5. Following the ceremony the local registration office will issue a Thai marriage certificate. It is advisable to check in advance whether this certificate is legally accepted in the home country of the couple.
